Documents needed when applying for a French mortgage

 


The criteria for a French mortgage is very similar to the UK's credit controls requests for paperwork.

This obviously will vary slighty from lender to lender, but generally the documents are such that an underwritter will get a very clear picture of the type of borrower they are potentially lending to.

Completion times again would be on pa to the UK time scales.

 

Copy of the passport or ID card for each borrower

  • Last 2  tax returns (3 for self employed)
  • Last 3 pay slips (wage earner) or last 3 balance sheets
  • Last 3 months account statements
  • Preliminary purchase agreement
  • Repayment schedule of all running loans
  • French bank account identification for direct debit
  • Own capital documentation
  • Possible documentation in case of :
    • Rentals : Title deed / tenancy agreements
    • Marriage / divorce : certificate
    • Company details in case of SCI, SNC, SARL, EURL
    • Renovation : accepted quotes, administrative authorisations if requested
    • New built : signed reservation contract, technical specifications, plans, commercial tenancy agreement (leaseback only)
